Movements: A story of inspiration
Thank you for your interest in “Where’s the Movement?” The question is meant to be interpreted and asked in a multitude of ways, forms, expressions, and applied in every possible fashion… My intention is that it be an ongoing, never-ending quest and question. E.g. Is that thing moving over there? Is there a “Movement” going on? Where are you moving to? What are you moving for? What moves you? Is the Movement benefiting you? Movements you should be aware of… Movements that have ended, been disregarded, discarded, -kaPUT! What moves those you love? What moves those around you? Is there a Movement you want to know more about? Is there…

Gender Ambiguity in a Protagonist
Review of “Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken”, 転生したらスライムだった件. That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime also known as TenSura or Slime Isekai is a Japanese fantasy light novel series written by Fuse, and illustrated by Mitz Vah. The story is about a salaryman who is murdered and reincarnates in a sword and sorcery world as a slime with unique powers and gathers allies to build his own nation of monsters… (per Wikipedia summary) A fascinating story development based solely in the outer realms that we commonly see in fantasy media (video games, movies, films, board games, mythos, etc)… Forbidden Caves (Dungeons), Dragons, Cave Monsters, Goblins, Dwarves, Elves, Ogres, Orcs,…

WATCH Pose (seasons 1-3)
Quotes from the gorgeous and fabulous (though mostly fictional character base) series “Pose” (three seasons already!) that helps us in the 2020s understand what happened with the queer community and underground balls in New York in the 1980s. A somewhat (and beautifully created and reenacted) historical narrative. “Remember, Doll, there’s not many yous out there…” [as Nurse Judy encourages Blanca Evangelista on their inclination to become a nurse, despite their school history of dyslexia. Their partner (also in medical profession) says they will support their decision and coach them] [Blanca Evangelista]: “When you get rejected by your mother, your father, you’re always out there looking for someone to replace the…

Cinnabar & Phos
In a 2017 Japanese animation series, Houseki no Kuni (Land of the Lustrous), I was taken with the no-nonsense colloquial writing, character development, voice actor performance, and drop-dead, gorgeous scenery. (for an informed discussion of deeper levels of humanity as portrayed in this manga/anime, watch the YouTube video by Avo Rabo) There is a subtle implied love story between two characters that never really fleshes out, but is imbued throughout the 12 episodes. Series that are heavily based on a theme are interesting on another level when it comes to being “informative”. These various characters are based on minerals and gems, so they are luminous and bound by their “strengths”.…

Dream People & Self Learning
After a troubling few encounters in my current profession this last week I had come to realize – yet again – that no one had my back when I needed them to. Not only that, but I would need to learn to define for myself the gray areas when people are harassing me and how much I can or should tolerate before calling it a day and having someone else deal with it (safety risk assessment… but also a personal one) Sometimes these days are accompanied by dreams, but sometimes these dreams come later or much later. In a recent dream where I was designated to arrange or complete a…

Wisdom of the Masses
Twelve plus years ago my primary partner was reading a book (among many others) that they were interested in. The topic was understanding the wisdom of the masses. I laughed at the title saying, “the point of a statement like the wisdom of the masses can only lead to a bottom-line that there is no wisdom in the masses“ I think & believe that anyone with experience in social conditioning in groups, schools, churches, etc. know how a group of people can gather, rise up, and sway opinion based on a few ring leaders (even modern day memes, social media platforms, and even movements, etc. bear witness to common day…

Humans Change
So, I put my “honey-moon” bathing suit in the Good-Will bag today. I keep telling myself “next year I’ll be able to fit back into this – or maybe next year” and how proud I would be with a before and after photo showing how much I am still the same person I was in 2008 as I am in 20–whatever. I have had multiple opportunities to throw this bikini out. Countless conversations in my mind, but this last week pushed my resolve. I was measured at the doctor (I do not weigh myself anymore because negative triggers abound in life, and that is one less one I could care…

Moments in Life
There are moments in life where you get an impression or reflection of what might come. I have had an impression that some day I will live another life. One beyond the one I live now. One with new relationships that will be important, relevant, and special in their own way. … at the very least these will and can happen – in the end. That is what is important to remember.

Meaninglessness
On a somewhat abandoned factory exterior facing wall someone spray-painted the word, in its entirety, “MEANINGLESSNESS”. I sit, typing in my somewhat dilapidated apartment, a six year anniversary upon us, and a pretty bleak future of opportunities, goals, and dreams. I am not what my family tradition and identity had brought me up to be, but I was definitely molded by those experiences and that history to be basically the person I am today. Kind, sensitive, somewhat indecisive –and sexually, philosophically, intelligently, and productively CONSTIPATED. I identify as part of the queer community now, yes, but what does that mean to me? What does that mean to my family? and…
