{"id":2867,"date":"2026-08-02T11:41:31","date_gmt":"2026-08-02T18:41:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wheresthemovement.com\/wp\/?p=2867"},"modified":"2026-08-02T12:00:01","modified_gmt":"2026-08-02T19:00:01","slug":"pug-dream","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/wheresthemovement.com\/wp\/2026\/08\/02\/pug-dream\/","title":{"rendered":"Pug Dream"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The drone of a passing small aircraft can be heard overhead as I open the window next to my computer desk to better hear my neighbor, Curtis, who lives a few houses down and practices singing with his guitar with all his windows open. There are times he sounds just like the late John Denver or a cross between that and Elton John. And sometimes he will play his keyboard instead. It is going to be a warm summer day with some clouds in the sky.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Air quality index is good- &#8230; for now.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>All talents and neighborhood sensory perceptions aside, I woke up this morning from a dream where ten or more pugs had been stuffed in large paper shopping bags with a large pillow and blankets and placed in the stalls of restrooms on a figurative collapsible passenger train. The idea being that once the train had to go through a tunnel or area where the train&#8217;s right of way (ROW) narrowed the bathrooms should not be occupied as they would collapse.<\/p>\n<p>To be clear &#8211; there is no such train in existence, my mind made it up based on whatever I was seeing or visualizing at the time and added emotional and triggering flare by highlighting the peril all these pugs were in &#8211; but also the desperation of the &#8220;individual person(s)&#8221; that had hidden them in these exact locations where their imminent demise was guaranteed in a gradual, deliberate, and unknown way where the &#8220;responsible owners&#8221; would not actually have to pay for or take part in the end of their lives.<\/p>\n<p>Running into each bathroom we (I forget who else was with me) checked each stall and pug and pulled their bags to safety. The last stall an elderly, fluffy, fawn, pug mix lay on their side, having fallen out of their bag on the floor. They were unresponsive and likely had passed &#8211; not from the collapse of the bathroom stalls &#8211; but due to having been abandoned in such a way and sitting in their anxiety, alone in a bag in a stall, on a train&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Having &#8220;saved&#8221; all these pugs from a secret and hidden doom where the operator of the train would unknowingly take part in their ends, there was a bittersweet moment of relief knowing this terrible plan had been averted, &#8211; but what to do with ten(+) pugs???<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>We have only ever had one pug in our house. The 4 and 9 months we had two other puppies, they were pug mixes and on a trial basis (more like fosters then owners) who we eventually could no longer afford to keep.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I asked my spouse for us to get kittens\/cats, but they forbade it &#8211; saying they never wanted to have a cat again.<\/p>\n<p>Having recently lost our elderly fur baby, therapy pug, pug-(land)-lord, and companion &#8211; we are going through the steps of grief in this great loss. Only recently have I been able to share with some more extended family the goings-on in our household and how that is greatly impacting our family and home &#8211; and me personally.<\/p>\n<p>This blog had an original intention of being used as both a tandem shadow, but also idea jar for a podcast of the same name &#8220;Where&#8217;s The Movement?&#8221; &#8211; in which my spouse and I would have conversations dealing with daily life today, in our world, and our community. With shared education and experiences, we are able to be sounding boards for each other and our ideas &#8211; but we also process and perceive things very differently. There are times that we are so different that we have conversations that quickly become debates and eventually can lead to arguments. These arguments are often left with both of us feeling worse than when we began.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>There is an importance in &#8220;communicating&#8221; our thoughts, feelings, and ideas. Just like me, this morning, having not shared or made a post in likely four or more years&#8230; I felt moved to sit and type out my dream about saving ten pugs from a collapsing passenger train&#8230; very odd, very dramatic, very &#8211; unreal.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>As with other mornings when I have been woken up due to a biological clock or triggering dream &#8211; I cannot go back to sleep, even if I can or wanted to. Instead I get up and start my morning rituals. One of those rituals right now is mushroom coffee\/cocoa\/tea supplements. It is still unclear if it is making me feel less puffy, more energized throughout the day, or keeping me more regular, but it has been a tasty routine that has been easy to follow most mornings.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Of course, it helps being able to have financial resources to afford such a thing. I do not make &#8220;Savings&#8221; these days. I have not for some time. Our biggest savings comes from our tax return(s) if we have them, which gives us a chunk in spring that we have been unintentionally collecting throughout the last tax year.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>It is not like me (or even us) to not be trying to have savings, but life has been such in the last few years where there are endless projects that require financial assistance to start, proceed or come to fruition.
